Constitution of the Nevada Booster Club

PURPOSE:  The purpose shall be to “boost” interest in the athletic programs of the Nevada 
Community School District.  Boost, meaning to assist or lift any activities, established and/or 
needed, for improvement to the total athletic program as commensurate with and in harmony 
with the total academic program of the Nevada Community School District. 
 
Support and/or assistance may be in such forms as labor, finance, morale, and etcetera. 
 
No such support will be given that is in any manner available or in conflict with funds available 
through the school or policies of the school including the school board. 
 
Article I, Executive Board 
 
1.1 The Executive Board shall consist of  twelve (12) members 
 
1.2 Election shall be from the club membership, exclusive of school faculty members, for a 
three (3) year term.  Each year (4) members will be elected. 
 
1.3 Executive Board members may be re-elected by a majority silent vote of the serving Executive
Board prior to the first home football game each year, with a maximum of two consecutive terms.

1.4 Election of additional open vacancies for the Executive Board is to be before the first home
football game each year, and to be effective the date of the election.

1.5 Vacancies on the board will be filled by the Board of Directors electing a person to serve 
until the next annual election, with the previous fall election results determining the 
candidates. 
 
Article II , Offices of the Executive Board 
 
2.1 Following the election of the Executive Board, the election of officers will take place at 
the next board meeting by the board members. 
 
2.2 Board President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Assistant Treasurer shall be elected from the board by the board members 
 
2.3 The Board shall work together as a common committee 

Article III, Duties of Executive Board 
 
3.1 The Executive Board shall be the governing body of, and in charge of the activities, and 
the funds of the Nevada Athletic Booster Club. 
 
3.2 Any Executive Board Member who misses three (3) consecutive meetings, without 
giving notice, may be relieved of his duties, and a new Board Member appointed by the 
remaining Board members for the unexpired term.  (as per 1.5) 
 
3.3 The Executive Board shall hold such meeting as they deem necessary, and the President 
or any three (3) members, may at anytime call a meeting of the board. 
 
3.4 A majority of the Executive Board shall constitute a quorum to hold a meeting.  On a 
specific question, absentee executive members may call in their votes to the Secretary or 
President. 
 
3.5 The President shall preside at all Executive Board meetings and/or Nevada Athletic 
Booster Club meetings. 
 
3.6 The Vice-President shall in the case of the inability or absence of the President, perform 
the duties of the President. 
 
3.7 The Secretary shall keep the records of the Club, the minutes of the Board meetings, and 
shall give due notice of all meetings of the Executive Board and/or of the Club, and shall 
handle all correspondence as directed by the Executive Board. 
 
a. The Secretary shall give notice to all members of the Annual Meeting and 
election not more than thirty (30) days before and not later than ten (10) days 
before date of said Annual Meeting by public notice. 
 
3.8 The Treasurer shall be custodian of all funds and assets of the Club. The Assistant Treasurer shall assist the Treasurer.
 
a. Bills of general operating expenses, such as postage, stationary, etc. for under 
$10.00 may be paid by the Treasurer without prior board approval.  Bills and/or 
commitments for over $10.00 must have prior board approval. 
 
b. Bills directly relating to approved functions of the Athletic Booster Club shall be 
paid by the Treasurer up to $500.00. 
 
3.9 Executive Board shall have authority to establish committees with specified authorities to 
act responsible to and reporting directly to the Executive Board. 
 
3.10 Executive Board shall appoint committee members for current membership and/or 
Executive Board. 

Article IV, Membership 

4.1 Membership is open to all adults residing in the Nevada Community School District, or 
alumni thereof. 
 
4.2 Executive Board shall have authority to establish yearly dues. 
 
4.3 Annual membership shall be September 1st each year through August 31st the following 
year. 
 
4.4 Board members shall be chosen from the membership 
 
4.5 All members may attend or may be invited to attend board meetings (as appropriate for 
reports of their activities) but will not be “voting” members of the Executive Board. 

Article V, Amending Constitution 

This constitution may be amended by a majority vote of the members present at any meeting of the club provided:  (a) There are at least eleven (11) members in good standing present, and (b) provided the intention to amend the constitution shall have been previously communicated in writing to the membership at least ten (10) days before date of such meeting, or by public notice. 

Article VI , By-Laws

5.1 By-laws may be adopted by 2/3 vote of the Executive Board present, and will be in full 
force as such, until adopted or rejected as part of the constitution by the Club as per 
above. 
 
5.2 Roberts Rules of Order shall govern all meetings of the Executive Board and of Club 
meetings. 
 
5.3 The third (3rd) Wednesday of every designated month at a designated place shall be the 
Board Meetings. 

5.4 The Board President shall only vote to break a tie vote.
